Hockey bar. Dead empty for Sunday night football. Had the Italian Grilled Cheese. Looked better than it tasted. Not as much flavor as you'd think but aight I guess. Hard to get an idea of the vibe with so few people there. Live close so would give it another go.

Women friendly bar!! This is my second time to visit this bar with my husband and we really enjoy the beer, goose, and food here. The bartender is friendly and on spot with making sure you keep a drink in your hand. The atmosphere is upbeat and friendly. They have great smoking sections and they are very fur friendly. You can get a treat, a bowl of water, or even some food for your furry friends! Love they are fur friendly! The chef cares about whether you enjoyed your food and if it was cooked the way you like it, especially with the burgers.

Amy took great care of us. Loved the homemade burger taste. Onion rings and tots were awesome. Enjoyed our time there.

As a wayward soul from a small fishing village in rural Canada, I’ve found myself chasing the familiar in unfamiliar places. The Maple Leaf in Houston, Texas, was like a siren call—a reminder of home while nestled deep in the heart of the South.

The food here, quite frankly, is exceptional. I ordered the patty melt, and let me tell you, patty melts are sacred in Canada. There’s a reverence for the balance of crisp bread, juicy beef, and molten cheese, and The Maple Leaf delivered it flawlessly. The bread was perfectly toasted, the patty packed a rich and satisfying flavor, and the onions—oh, the onions. Caramelized to perfection, they brought a sweet, earthy depth that made each bite unforgettable. It was a meal I’ll be thinking about long after I’ve moved on down the road.

And then there was the pretzel. Soft, warm, with just the right touch of salt, it wasn’t just a snack; it was a revelation. The kind of simple yet outstanding fare that makes you pause and appreciate life’s small joys.

My one regret? The poutine eluded me this time, but that just gives me another reason to return. Poutine is a dish that carries the weight of my northern roots, and I’ve heard The Maple Leaf does it justice.

The Maple Leaf isn’t just a bar; it’s a crossroads of stories, a place where northern melancholy meets southern grit. It reminds me of why I left Canada, but more importantly, it reminds me of why I’ll always carry it with me. If you find yourself wandering the streets of Houston, drop anchor here. You won’t regret it.

Been living in Houston since March and driven by this spot many a time, so decided to stop in for Monday Night Football and was beyond disappointed. I have spent time in Montreal and wanted to try their Poutine, but they were out of the ingredients to make it right. I ordered wings and they were not cooked fully (blood on the bone) so that was a deal breaker. I was offered a replacement bowl of chicken and dumplings but by then, I couldn't trust the kitchen. The bartender was nice, but that couldn't compensate for the bloody chicken. I love Montreal but this place is far from it (literally and figuratively).

Un poco complicado pedir la orden por el código qr en las mesas, por suerte la camarera muy amable, sin embargo parece ser que algunos pedidos no fueron exactamente lo solicitado.

Went here for a drink and a quick bite. The kitchen is open late. Kind of a divey hockey themed bar in midtown Houston. No frills no fringe good food and good drinks. The poutine was slamming and the gravy was on point. The fried jalapeños were good but the order was huge and the batter was quite thick so I got burned out on them pretty quick so make sure you have a lot of people to share it with. The local pickle beer we had was a great compliment to the fried food and the service was quick and friendly.
