Très bonne table dans cet hôtel reconnu pour être étroit. Sur la photo le haggis et le steak pie. Le décors à l'intérieur est très agréable avec un ne playlist des années 50/60. Le service est parfait. Le nombre de table est limité, nous avons été chanceux mais je conseille de réserver.

We booked on a recommendation from a colleague and he certainly wasn’t wrong! A fantastic hotel! Known as the narrowest hotel in the world, it definitely doesn’t feel like it. Magnificent use of a 20ft wide building! 8 wonderful rooms, 2 bars, 2 restaurants and that’s just what I saw. I didn’t see where they prepared the amazing food! We came here for work, but moffat is a beautiful, peaceful town and the famous star is the perfect place to stay when you visit. I will returning without a doubt.

Tenth-ish time here. Just booked another table for a couple of weeks from now. |Once again, the meal was excellent, staff were very attentive and the prices were very good. We are keen caravanners and Moffat is one of our favourite places to be. As long as that’s the case, The Famous Star will be the place for a meal! Thanks again folks.

The charm of the building is its quaint narrowness, but it extends quite a long way back so there are a surprising number of rooms. My en suite double room was quite adequate, but rather on the small side, and could do with a couple more electricity points. Breakfast was included and the overall package was good value. Staff were friendly and helpful. There is free parking on the ‘square’ in front of the hotel and there were available spaces most hours. The only small issue was that the hotel restaurant was closed for dinner on Wednesdays (the day of my stay), I assume due to staffing problems. But Moffat has a number of restaurants of different styles.

We stayed at The famous star during the Moffat walking weekend. We were very happy with our room, the food was great and the staff went out of their way to make us welcome. I would not hesitate to stay there again if I am in Moffat or go there for a lovely home cooked bar meal.

Fascinating building, lovely friendly staff, comfy, clean, cheerful room. Hot, good pressure shower. Delicious meal in a cosy dining room, we were too full for two puddings so they smiled and brought us one with two spoons. |Be aware, the twin room was small, but you'd really have to expect that from the uniqueness of the building. I'd happily recommend the Star.

We visited the restaurant on three occasions and each time the food was excellent. Staff were welcoming, attentive, and friendly. Very reasonably priced. Would recommend booking for the restaurant. We saw a few people being turned away as it was fully booked.

Excellent service, amazing food.

Group of 4, everyone thoroughly enjoyed what we had. There was a wait for the food but it was fresh, beautiful and hot when we got it. Worth the wait for sure.

I had the Venison pie and it was perfect. A fair price for quality food and drink. A must to try.
